Beth's Bakes and Quirky Cakes - Set your imagination free...
An afternoon in a windy gazebo...

I met some lovely people at a friends open day in Wadebridge last weekend. Our friend Mikey has a surf shop where he also speicalises in t-shirts designed by him and his friends. It is pretty groovy with the emphasis on new and different ideas, a bit like Beth's Bakes. Visit Mikey and say hello at http://www.seedsurfco.com/. I made lots of fancy cup cakes for the do and some nice chaps brought along the tea from The Tea Appreciation Society. They taught me some useful information on how to run a business keeping the environment in mind whilst still keeping things quirky and fun. Have a look at their very good website and have a cup of tea...
Christmas Stall
On a crisp thursday afternoon last week I spent a good 10 hours peddling my wares to a glorious crowd of people in the old brewery yard in Falmouth. I was nestled between a colourful miniature hat stall and a group of blacksmiths of Smythick Forge, both of which produced wonderful work. I made jams, chutneys, relishes and of course plenty of baked treats including christmas cakes! A big thank you to all who came and supported as well as Ben and Zaid from The People's String Foundation who came along and played some festive treats and some of their own material.
The Bake-Off...
Thanks to all who sponsored me on my 24 hour bake-athon last september. I have raised £850 so far which I am very proud of. However...

Due to the success I plan to make this an annual event and this year hope to be getting more coverage, more hype and hopefully putting together some little packs so that people who visit the site and want to join in can bake along to the recipes I provide, whether it is for a full 24 hours or just for an afternoon to raise money for Macmillan. So watch this space...

Of late this charity has become very close to my heart and I really admire the work they do and think it is so sad that so many people die of this horrible thing. 1 in 3 people get cancer and it should be a word that doesn't mean the end of the world and life as we know it. It is also important that those who must live with it gain the help and support they need to get through every day. Sometimes it is just too much to ask your family and loved ones to provide that day in and day out. Macmillan Cancer Research get 99% of their money from supporters so there is no better charity in my mind to use my bake-off to help.
